Amanda (Townsend) Massaway is a founding WAEF Board Director and currently is the Board President. She is a '98 graduate of Wausaukee High School and went to college at Indiana University.  Amanda and her husband Mike live with their 4 children in the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and enjoy outdoor activities like cross country skiing, hiking & biking.  For the last 15+ years, Amanda has worked in various corporate accounting roles for a global retailer.  Within her local community, Amanda serves on the Board of Education and is a Rotarian.

Michelle (Smith) Treankler is a founding WAEF Board Directors and currently sits as Vice President of the Foundation.  She is a '97 Graduate of Wausaukee High School and a 2001 graduate of St. Norbert College with a Business Administration degree.  Later in life went back to school to get her CMA license and worked for Prevea Cardiology before moving to Houghton, MI with her husband.  For the past 8 years Michelle and Carl have been building up their 400 acres with cabin rentals, hiking trails, and serenity.  They own and operate Northwinds Adventures, a place to host special events for families, corporate retreats, and a base camp for travelers to explore the Keweenaw.  In the summer months, Northwinds partners with Camp Luther in Three Lakes, WI to welcome high school kids and groups for adventure camps and service projects in the Houghton County communities.

Rosie Figas

Treasurer, Class of '67

Rosie (Stumbris) Figas is a founding WAEF Board Director and Treasurer.  Rosie is a 1967 graduate of Wausaukee High School. She holds degrees in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.  In 2010, Rosie retired from 40 years of teaching high school; 36 of those years were at the Wausaukee School District. Rosie and her husband Jerry established J&R Auto Parts & Service in Wausaukee in 1979. They have 4 children & 10 grandchildren and they continue to operate their business.  Rosie is also a Board member of the Wausaukee Housing Authority.

Lynn Franzmeier

Secretary, Class of '98

Lynn (Polomis) Franzmeier is a founding WAEF Board Director and the current serves as the Board Secretary.  She is a ’98 graduate of Wausaukee High School.  Lynn received a BS in Criminal Justice from UW-Platteville and JD from Hamline University School of Law (now Mitchell Hamline School of Law) in St. Paul, Minnesota.  In 2015, Lynn and her husband Jake became business owners when they purchased Bay Area Testing & Consulting, LLC (BATC) located in Suamico, Wisconsin.  In addition to running a business, Lynn and Jake keep busy with raising their two young sons. 

Jared Deschane is a founding WAEF Board Director and currently the superintendent & 9-12 principal at Wausaukee School District.  He started his career at Wausaukee School and has been working there since Fall of 1996.  Jared and his wife Ryanne, who is an elementary teacher at Wausaukee, have three children ages 19, 17, and 14 and they are all proud to be Wausaukee Rangers.  Jared is also a board member for the Wausaukee Recreation Association, Wausaukee Enterprises, and has recently been asked to be on the Campus Advisory Board for the UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus.
